Let's Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson

I hadn't heard of the Bloggess before a couple of bloggers I read tweeted about Jenny Lawson's book. I went on to the site and read a few things. Before I knew it, I had read about a year's worth of material.

I usually like comedic books, but I usually read the jokes in them, think, "That's funny," and smirk. Jenny Lawson had me laughing out loud on nearly every page. It happened so often that it started annoying my girlfriend.

Lawson has a mental condition that causes extreme amounts of anxiety is even minor situations. She also has a vivid imagination and a crazy family history. She managed to turn situations that are horrifying at the time into hilarious anecdotes.

I don't want to copy any of her book here (buy a copy!), but she has posted an excerpt that you should read. Although I find that passage funny, it is by far one of the most tame things in the book. It gets much, much funnier.

I irritated my girlfriend enough with my laughter that she became curious. She's reading it now. As a psychology major-turned-social worker, I'm sure she's reading this from an entirely different perspective. I plan on bugging her for her opinion once she's done.
