Wreck-It Ralph (2012)
I normally don't get too excited about movie trailers. When I saw the trailer for Wreck-It Ralph, I was legitimately thrilled for it. I was afraid that the movie would rely too much on nostalgia and cameos, but otherwise it looked like it would have a solid plot.
- The "cameo" characters create the setting well. They are not overused.
- The plot revolves completely around original characters that truly feel like actual video game characters.
- The plot is not what I thought is was going to be, but is still very good.
- This is the best family movie I have seen in a long time.
This movie just came out yesterday, so I won't give away any of the plot here.
You do not need to know anything about video games to enjoy Wreck-It Ralph. You may enjoy the very beginning of the movie more, but it isn't necessary at all.
Before I saw this, I saw fellow geeks online mention that they had high hopes for this movie, and the movie surpassed those expectations. I have to agree. Deep down, I know that I would judge Wreck-It Ralph more harshly than usual because video games were important to me growning up. It's the same reason I can't watch any computer segment of an episode of CSI without tearing my hair out now.
The others are right; Wreck-It Ralph is an excellent movie. Please give it your money.
